Dear Parent,

Thank you for choosing Sew Much More. I love to sew and I enjoy working with children. The hand sewing class runs for 90 minutes. I teach up to 4 students at a time. I do combine hand sewing and machine sewing students in the same class. That way the hand sewing students can see what they can be making in the future. The hand sewing kit that can be purchased from me, takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks to complete depending on the skill of each student. This class, for 6 to 10 year old girls and boys, not only teaches sewing skills, but also finger dexterity and coordination, the value of patience, responsibility and commitment, and cleanliness.

COST:
There is a $12.00 fee for each class plus a one time kit fee of $5.00. Payment is due on the day you come to class or can be made in advance. Checks can be made out to Sew Much More or Sue Schrock.
I request a 24 hour notice be given if you are not able to attend a scheduled class so that I can try to fill that space with a student from the waiting list. If I am unable to fill that class, you will be charged for the missed class.

LESSON PLAN:
I teach from the Palmer/Pletsch Books for Children series. The hand sewing class consists of 3 levels.
LEVEL 1: Students will overcast a felt shape and stuff it. A variety of shapes are available to choose from after making the bird shape.
LEVEL 2: Students will make an embroidery sampler which can be framed or made into a pillow. We do not frame or make the pillows in this class.
LEVEL 3: Students will make a “person”. They learn to embroider the face, make hair, and clothes. They will even learn to sew on a button.

Students are encouraged to make what they want so they can say, “It’s sew fun”. Therefore, if students wish to stay at a certain level, they are encouraged to do so. If after completing all 3 levels your child is interested in machine sewing, I do offer classes with flexible hours for ages 8 and up. I do have a dog - Bennie. Please inform me if your child has allergies.

FREEBIES:
You can earn free sewing lessons. Tell your friends about Sew Much More. Your referral must give me your name when they first contact me. I will send you a “Free Lesson Coupon” after they attend their first class.
Ask to see the “Treasure Box”. After they complete 5 projects, they may pick a gift from the Treasure Box - spool of thread, sewing notion, fat quarter of fabric, stickers, etc.

You will be asked to sign a paper stating that you have read and understand this student letter and its guidelines. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I will enjoy working with your son or daughter.
